We expect the families of OPAA Baseball to maintain a very high standard. The coaching staff is no different. We expect
the families to keep the coaching staff accountable on our decisions on and off the field. Remember: this is your team!
I hereby agree to live up to my obligation as an OPAA Coach and to abide by a Coaching Code of Ethics.
- I will cooperate with the OPAA Program in the enforcement of rules and regulations.
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development of young athletes.
- I will do my best to provide a safe playing environment for my players.
- I will instruct my players within the written rules of the game and never seek an unfair advantage by teaching deliberate unsportsmanlike behavior.
- I will never place demands on my player’s time that is so extensive as to interfere with academic goals or progress.
- I promise to continue to grow and develop my skills as a coach and to continue to study the game and learn from others in order to provide the best possible instruction for my players.
- I will use all of the resources available to me and this team to provide the best possible instruction for my players.
- I will be knowledgeable in the rules of baseball and I will teach these rules to my players.
- I promise to review and practice basic first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my players.
- I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all of my players.
- I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all of my players.
- I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.
- I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, and that the game is for children and not adults.
